My Dear Friend,

Greetings for a better tomorrow…!

You know, Delhi Malayalee Association (DMA) central committee election is fast approaching. I, myself present as a ‘Presidential Candidate’ with a clear vision to serve DMA in my fullest capacity. At present, I am associated with DMA as the Chairman of Sreenivaspuri Area for the past 4 years. At the same time, my experiences with different national and international organizations compelled me to think about the urgent need for drastic changes in DMA’s involvement and implementation of developmental activities. Presently, I hold the position of General Convenor in both Global Indian Association [GIA] and International Action Council for World Government. Here, I put forward a development agenda for DMA for your kind perusal and consideration. I assure you, if I get a chance to serve DMA as its President, I will try my best to implement the programs mentioned in the proposal for development along with the ongoing activities of DMA and lead our Association to the path of development benefiting all members.

Proposal for Development (20 Point Program)

1. Increase in the numbers of membership from 10000 to 100000 (1 Lakh) within a span 2 years (2011-13) to get a wider representation of Malayalees in Delhi. It will help DMA as a reckoning force in the negotiations with government to protect the rights of expatriates in Delhi. Online application for membership facility will make a reality for maximizing membership.

2. ‘Accidental Insurance Policy’ worth Rs.1 lakh for all members. It will help ordinary person/family to face contingencies.

3. Increase in number of Area Committees from 23 to 100 to ensure the participation of maximum number of Malayalees and taking care of their welfare activities and grievances.

4. Increase in number of Malayala Bhasha Padana Kendrams from 27 to 100 within a period of 2 years to maximize attendance and deliver support for the children to know and learn Malayalam language, literature and culture.

5. Tie up with NORKA to get welfare activities of Malayalees done on time.

6. Micro finance based ‘Self Help Groups’ formation, skill development, entrepreneurship and income generation training targeting unemployed members.

7. Coaching centre for medical, engineering, civil services and other competitive exams utilizing the existing DMA infrastructure wisely. It will provide ample opportunities for brilliant students from Malayalee community in Delhi & NCR.

8. Promotion of Kerala Tourism, Handicrafts, Handlooms and Ayurveda through conducting regular exhibitions, fairs etc. at the premises of DMA.

9. Formation of different ‘Cells and Clubs’ to ensure the participation and contribution of different age groups and professional groups like Senior Citizen Club, Children Club, Youth Club, Women Club, IT Club, Media Club, Doctors Club, Nurses Cell and Legal Grievances Cell.

10. Job Placement and Matrimonial consultancy services.

11. Malayalam FM Radio (24 hours). It will work not only as a means of entertainment but as a medium to present even ‘minute details’ of the activities of DMA to get a wide range of reach and coverage among millions of Malayalees in Delhi & NCR.

12. Expansion of fund raising for the promotion of ‘DMA Charity Activities’ through the services of Air Ticket booking, benefitting DMA Area Committees.

13. DMA Film Award. It will be an initiative to honour best artists from the film world and introduce them to Delhi Malayalees along with a fund raising programme for the activities undertaken by DMA.

14. Increase in the amount for charity activities in each DMA Area Committee from Rs.10, 000 to Rs.50, 000 (per year).

15. Free provision of ‘Sound Systems and 100 to 500 Chairs’ to conduct events in Areas according to the prior booking. The purpose of such a sop is to promote activities at the area level.

16. Awards for children of DMA members passing Class X Exam with above 90%.

17. Counseling, leadership and personality development training programmes for students from time to time.

18. ‘Ideal Parenting’ Training Programme on a regularly basis. It is a training to equip the parents to garner knowledge to understand and adjust with the behavioral patterns of new generation, at the same time bringing up the children in an atmosphere where morality, culture and tradition are safeguarded.

19. Inter Religious Fellowship Convention once in a year. Present time is witnessing the polarization on the basis of religion and unnecessary tensions are created as a consequence of it. Mainly youths are the victims of religious extremism. ‘Inter Religious Fellowship Convention’ aims at providing an open platform for various religious leaders, common people and children to engage in healthy discussions, debates and know different religions closely and to love all above religious barriers.

20. Encourage environmental life style and practices and promote environmental awareness programmes networking with various environmental organizations to protect the earth for future generations.

Anticipating your co-operation and support to get elected as the President to lead and implement the above referred ‘20 Point Program’ to uplift DMA as a vision oriented developmental organisation in the capital of India.

Thanks & Regards,

Rajeev Joseph
