Rajeev Joseph at ‘Copenhagen Summit Rally’ and ‘Sit in’ at Jantar Mandir in Delhi
Rajeev Joseph always stood as a crusader against environmental pollution and other activities degrading the sanctity of Mother Earth. Not only in India but while in UAE also he continued his environment protection activities with the networking with UN Agencies, NGOs and other civic bodies. In December 2009, environment ministers and officials from different countries met in Copenhagen, Denmark for the ‘United Nations Climate Conference’ to thrash out a successor to the Kyoto protocol. One hundred-and-ninety-two countries have signed the climate change convention. More than 15,000 officials, advisers, diplomats, protestors and journalists attended the meet, joined by heads of state. On 7th December 2009, the opening day of the Copenhagen Summit, Green Peace International organized a Rally from Rajghat to Jantar Mantar in Delhi participating more than 100 NGOs, thousands of school, college students, religious leaders and environmentalists from different countries demanding “Fair and Real Deal” at Copenhagen Summit. Archbishop of Delhi Most. Rev. Vincent. M. Concessao led the Rally and Rajeev Joseph was one of the lead participant. The Rally was followed by a ‘Sit in’ at Jantar Mandir, Rajeev Joseph along with Fr. Susai Sebastian of Chetanalaya, social service wing of Delhi Catholic Arch Diocese administered solidarity to Mother Earth oath to hundreds of social workers and environmentalists present there.
