IPF Food Program-a solace for hundreds in abject poverty in pavements
IPF Food Program was started in the New Year day of 2009 to provide cooked food in parcels for the people lying at the pavements, bus stops railway stations and other public places under abject starvation counting the days under the mercy of good Samaritans. The program was inaugurated by Rev Fr. Joseph Kavalakkat, Northern Regional Co-coordinator of Prison Ministry India. To make the out reach successful, Rajeev Joseph, the President of Indian Progressive Foundation (IPF) developed different strategic movements and networked with schools to collect ‘Food Packets’ sensitizing the social concern of the children. The IPF Food Program got momentum and not only institutions but RWAs and individuals came forward to offer food. As a result, the food distribution extended to orphanages, old age homes and shelter houses. .Due to the practical difficulty of reaching different places on time and keep the collected food without damage is a grave problem now and IPF is on the process of collecting grains and distribute them in old age homes and orphanages. During this while, serious planning is on the way to accommodate the people on payments to shelter homes and provide adequate medical help to them. Not only that but on recuperation they will be trained with suitable skill development to get an earning for a living with the networking of other NGOs working in that field.
